C* EF-S 18-55 IS conversion to EF mount

proceed on your own risk, you mileage may vary.

i just converted a EF-S 18-55 IS to EF mount, by cutting of the back-part of the plastic of the lens. this idea basically

i wanted to follow this method:, but as points out, in the back of the lens live the accelerometers, needed for IS operation. i therefore did not choose the glue method and just proceeded with a cut, just at the level where the rubber part sat, sanded a little, and voila, it fits my old D30.

the D30 does use a larger mirror as my 50D, but it still moves free at max wide-angle setting.

with this method i of course do not have the shading hood at the back-part of the lens any more, which might cause problems with flares.
